Practicing Acceptance and Meditation

During the past two weeks I have been working on the idea of practicing acceptance and meditation. With practicing acceptance I tried the suggestion of not complaining which helped bring a more positive mindset. With this I had to be mindful of when I was hanging with friends and even scrolling on social media because that is when I felt the most complaining happening. To avoid participating in gossip or complaining while hanging out with my friends, I will walk out of the room or play a game on my phone and not participate in that. Then to avoid scrolling on social media which leads to complaining or comparing others, I have been trying to read more in my free time rather than scrolling.

Another practice I did with trying acceptance was changing how I reacted to stress or anxiety. One thing that helped was watching the headspace thing on Netflix. These truly are such a great introduction to mediation and breaking down the reasons why we feel different emotions. I highly suggest all you readers to go and watch the series on Netflix if you have a subscription and time. The past two week I made a goal to meditate four times a week. During the first week I would do guided meditations on youtube to help me practice finding a clear mind to relax which helped me during the second to be able to do it on my own for longer with different frequencies to relax.

What I noticed during practicing acceptance by not participating in not complaining was that I had a more positive attitude and was having a better time. I felt a lightness when being in social situations and overall felt better going through life. Also, from mediating and watching the headspace meditation documentary help me find a way to relax my mind and put a sense of ease. These documentaries also help break down emotions and how we think of them. This helped me change my mindset on some emotions and find a new way to bring a sense of tranquility to my life. Overall, practicing these two ideas has helped me so much with living a tranquil life. I hope you all are having fun and trying all the simple ways to find inner peace. I look forward to hearing in the comments about your experience trying these simple practices. Hope you all have an amazing weekend and look forward to talking about affirmations with you next week!

  1. Hi Chelsea, I love this post. I have a similar blog for feeling comfortable with you. I love practicing acceptance because it allows us to be okay with what is. It reminds me of mindfulness. Mindfulness is a lifestyle that I try an hold and I pride myself on being present in the current moment.
I do lack in the acceptance part and it is something your blog post reminded me of. I do agree that sometimes negativity does follow us and trying to separate ourselves from it allows us to not let negative energy affect our lives.
This was incredibly well written and it has reminded me that we all need to practice acceptance.
